Sometimes it’s really hard to get up and get things done. Being a mom juggling the kids and a household can drain the life out of me sometimes. I have days where I have no motivation to do anything which is just not acceptable because if I don’t do my job it feels like everything just falls apart. So there are a few things I do to trigger that “get up and go” spirit in me to get back on track.
We all have lazy uninspired days, and that’s totally fine. But if you’re like me and rarely have the time to sit around doing nothing this post is for you
Make A List
This basically works for everything you need to do. Sit down and start with the most pressing matter that needs your attention and then work your way down list ending with the task that could wait until the end of the day. This sounds really simple, and it is. Having a visual laid out in front of you can put your mind at ease.

Turn On Some Music
Music can be fun and uplifting and the right song can instantly put you in a great mood. Every time I clean up I play whatever upbeat song I like at the moment. Music is the perfect cleaning motivation. Make a playlist of all the songs that get you up and moving.
Get Dolled Up
This one might sound a tiny bit shallow but when you look good you feel good! Even if you don’t have anywhere special to go, do it for yourself. I can’t tell you how many times I got completely dressed up (beat face and all) just to go to Walmart or run errands. I had absolutely NOTHING going on but they didn’t know that 🙂
Look For Inspiration
You could call someone you know who you admire, read a blog post from your favorite blogger (ahem) or just search the web for inspirational stories and you’ll find something to ignite that flame.
Use reminders that are enticing to you. Maybe little sticky notes that you could just slap on your mirror or fridge. You could use pictures or quotes just place them in areas you pass the most throughout the day or areas you’ll most likely just wanna lounge in. This could also keep up moral even if you’re already in a good mood.
Find a quiet area of your home to get comfortable then visualize your goal for the day and think it into action. Meditation is not only relaxing but it can really get you in the zone to help you focus on what’s important. There are so many benefits to meditation that I could write a separate post all about it but here are a few key factors
- Increased self-awareness
- Reduced negative emotions
- Increased patience and tolerance
- The brain functions better with meditation
Make It A Routine
A good routine not only provides us structure but it also saves time which can help you get more out of your day. Routines can help achieve goals whether it’s a short specific goal just for the day, or an ongoing journey.
There are so so many different tips and tricks out there that can be explored but I found what I wrote in this post to be the most helpful to me. Following one or all 7 of these great ways to get motivated can make a big impact in your life in a positive way. I personally love finding new ways to be more productive. I am always working towards self-improvement and I love sharing what actually works for me. Hopefully, you get the same results!
