Let’s talk about the mommy slump aka mom burnout. It’s basically when you get lost in motherhood. I was there and didn’t even realize it until one day I was on FaceTime with my mom and out of nowhere she goes “girl your hair is always looking crazy now, mom life is tough huh?” my first response was “Wow, tell me how you really feel mama!” (while rolling my eyes).
But that got me thinking damn, I have been looking a little crazy lately mainly because I spend most of my time at home with a 1-year-old so combing my hair every day just wasn’t high on my to-do list.
But it wasn’t just my hair, I started to notice that i was wearing sweats, t-shirts, yoga pants, just ALL athletic clothes ALL the time because they were comfortable. When I would leave the house it was to go to the grocery store, run errands, pick my daughter up from school, take her to gymnastics and that’s about it. I was stuck in my same stay at home mom routine and it was starting to get to me. So I decided to make some changes, nothing drastic just small things to get back to feeling like me again.
If you find yourself stuck with the I’m too tired for this sh*t mommy look I have some suggestions to help you get back to “MILF status” pronto!

Comb your hair…… Everyday
This is sooo easy to forget about when you spend most of your time at home. The first thing i started doing was my hair (of course) on a regular basis again.. I had enough of my unkempt ponytail! I used to be really into hair and makeup, always trying new styles and colors.
Upgrade ya undies!
Yes ma’am, you read that right! This one is very simple but often overlooked. I looked in my drawer… The underwear drawer and noticed most of my pretty panties have been replaced by those basic cotton Haynes. Now there’s nothing wrong with those at all I still love them but jeezzzz i needed a few more options in there again.
The panty drawer led me to my bras which went from the pretty matching sets to plain nursing bras… lots of nursing bras! It was time for a mini shopping trip. So i hit up Pink/Victorias Secret and Torrid to add more variety to my collection again. You’ll immediately feel sexy again and your husband will appreciate it too.
Get a Mani-Pedi
I started going to the nail salon again, not every two weeks like before but here and there just for a little me time. Stop neglecting those toes!
Get a hobby
One thing that really helped me was starting this blog. It’s an outlet for me because I love to write and I can just let my creativity flow. If you find yourself in the mommy slump finding a hobby that you are passionate about will go a long way. Some hobbies you can even turn into some extra income for your household.
It’s amazing how a few changes can get you back to feeling more like yourself again, the you, you were before kids and family life. I used to always say I will never let myself go kids or not! But it’s not like you wake up one day and go hmmm, I’m gonna start neglecting myself today because that’s what moms do!
It just happens sometimes, gradually after having kids. But there’s absolutely nothing wrong that, as moms, our first instinct is to care for our little ones first but we just have to remember that if we don’t take care of ourselves mentally and physically we won’t be able to take care of anyone else.
